Since 2012, Allen Waxman has served as both General Counsel and then Executive Vice President at Eisai, Inc. As executive vice president, he leads all market access, government affairs, and corporate advocacy activities. In this role, he works with payers and providers to ensure patient access to the company’s medicines, and his responsibilities include overseeing value and outcomes research for the firm’s therapies. Beyond his work at Eisai, Allen Waxman is an avid sports fan. He is particularly fond of following Chicago Cubs baseball.

In 2001, Sammy Sosa recorded arguably the greatest single season as a batter in Chicago Cubs history. He finished the season with a franchise best slugging percentage of .737 and, with a wins above replacement (WAR) rating of 9.7, bested Rogers Hornsby’s WAR rating of 9.4, a record since 1929. He also set a Cubs record for total bases, while his 64 home runs rank second in franchise history, behind only his 66 home runs in 1998.

As for Chicago Cubs single season pitching performances, few can rival Randy Myers’ 1993 campaign. Myers led the league with a career best 53 saves in his first season with the Cubs, compared to just six blown saves. His 53 saves remain a franchise record 25 years later and in 1993 stood as the second best single season mark in all of Major League Baseball (MLB). Myers recorded 38 saves with Chicago in 1995, tied for third among all Cubs pitchers.
