In order to achieve these goals, the organization works with law schools to expand public interest programming and hosts one of the largest public interest law conference career fairs in the country. Additionally, Equal Justice Works runs a fellowship program supporting legal professionals working in public interest fields as well operating a loan repayment assistance program.
The Equal Justice Works Legal Fellowship Program provides between 45 and 55 two-year fellowships per year. Fellows receive a salary, loan repayment assistance and training. Among the fellowship programs that Equal Justice Works provides is the AmeriCorps Legal Fellowship program, founded with the support of the Corporation of National and Community Service.
The Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellowship program was founded in 1993 with the goal of closing gaps in legal representation. Since 2014, the AmeriCorps Legal Fellows focus on employment issues, veterans’ needs, and disaster relief.
